Pro Bono
In appropriate circumstances our firm will provide legal services on a pro bono basis.
In the recent past we have acted for clients in connection with a number of litigious matters where advice has been provided on a pro bono basis. These matters have included:
- Advice in relation to allegations of defamatory publications by a public interest group
- Advice as to the validity of a decision making process by the City of Greater Geelong. We succeeded in persuading the Council to withdraw the decision without the need to issue legal proceedings
- Assisting in connection with a possible claim to set aside a mortgage instrument on the basis of a fraud
- Advising a non for profit organisation in relation to the naming rights agreement for a major fun run.
- Advising a non for profit organisation in relation to commercial leasing issues arising in respect of op shop sites.
- Advising and acting on behalf of an elderly person in financial distress in relation to issues arising from the bankruptcy of a family member with the potential to expose the individual to the loss of their home.
